Why shouldn't I book a summer holiday before I go to the USA?

The summer before you depart from the USA, you will need to apply for a visa. The US Embassy is extremely busy May - August and you will need to be available to go to the embassy for your appointment when one becomes available. The embassy will also have your passport for up to 10 days after your appointment. It is beneficial to not have to delay your appointment around holidays which can then affect you getting out to the USA on time for pre-seasons and orientations.
