TOEFL Home Edition

To take the TOEFL at home, you will need:
  1. A room where you will not be disturbed
  2. A stable internet connection
  3. A seat that is not on a bed or sofa, but at a table
  4. A PC or laptop (Windows or Mac) – no tablets 
  5. A webcam with a microphone
  6. Speakers, as headphones are not permitted
  7. Your ID
  8. A small hand mirror or your cell phone to show the room
  9. Permitted materials for notes, e.g., a whiteboard that can be erased in front of the examiner

Shortly before the test, click on the link under “Start my test” in your email. Your proctor will then contact you and enter the password you need for the test. You will not receive this password in advance.
You will be monitored throughout the test. Therefore, follow the instructions carefully so that the test is not interrupted and you do not have to repeat it at your own expense. Make sure that no one enters your room during this time!
